It rained this afternoon, and by the time I left to go home it had slowed to a drizzle. With the dampness in the air, it actually felt cooler this afternoon than it did this morning. It didn't take long for my fingers to get cold, so I ended up going pretty much straight home. It was still a great ride, though. I was concerned for a moment when I was sure I smelled burning plastic, but it must have been some of the other traffic around me - I only smelled it once and a thorough sniffing and looking over the KLR when I got home didn't give me any ideas.
When I got home, I found I couldn't put the KLR back into its spot in the garage because a large cardboard box was in its place. Mrs. HAL had picked up my panniers from the post office!
I took them out of the box and brought them inside. They're quite light and look great. They're a little larger than I thought they'd be (in a good way). I'll post some pictures of them this weekend.
It's supposed to be quite warm out over the next few days. If I'm not too busy thupping around on the KLR, I'll put it back up on the lift and put the panniers on. I'm quite excited about how much more stuff I'll be able to carry on the bike with them!
Safe riding!
