Had a busy day today, spent a lot of time outside doing stuff. Didn't get out for any riding, but I did spend some time cleaning up and sorting out my KLR workbench. Found some oil and an oil filter o-ring that I didn't know I had, that was a nice surprise.
Anyway, I had some time to get a better look at the panniers and take a couple of pictures. I must say, I'm pretty happy with the build quality, they look really good and seem quite sturdy. I haven't mustered up the guts to try sitting on them yet, but they look like they could support my weight.
Anyway, without further ado - the Happy Trails Teton panniers:
The lid is hinged, but not with a typical hinge. When unlocked, the whole lid lifts and then pivots outward. I also like the loops on top for tying more gear to, those will come in very handy, I think.
Here's a view inside one of them, with a can of Chef Boyardee for a sense of scale:
You can see the rubber gasket and the rivets that hold the loops on.
The panniers are 33L each. Oh, and that reminds me - the topcase I ordered (the Givi E20N) appears to be on backorder from the company for another month or two. I think I'm going to have to change my order - I really don't want to take the chance of waiting two more months just to find out there's something wrong with it or something. Either way, I'm hoping for something with a 35-40L capacity, that'd give me a little over 100L of lockable cargo area, which will be great.
It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow, depending on what it's like I may get a chance to install the rack and panniers!
Safe riding!
