This afternoon, the air was still a great temperature but clouds were moving in from the west and the wind had come up quite a bit. Not a big deal, but I think it's the strongest wind I've seen so far this riding season. The temperature is supposed to drop quite a bit (it's around 21C now, supposed to be around 2C tomorrow and 1C on Sunday with snow), but I hope it's winter's last gasp for the year.
I'm happy to report that the new trunk stayed on quite well. I didn't have anything heavy in it, but it was still nice to see that I didn't have to circle back and pick it up off the road somewhere! I had a few moments, so I finally took a couple of pictures. As you can see, the trunk is pretty wide (but not as wide as the handlebars... or me, for that matter):
The red stripe is a sticker that I expect to last about two weeks before it peels off. Looks fancy, though:
It's quite roomy inside. There's a rubber gasket inlaid in the top to keep water out, a stay on each side to keep the lid from flopping all the way open, and a tie-down built in:
Underneath the lid, there's a handy little snap-closed compartment that can be used to hold documents or paper-ish stuff you don't want to lose (it also has the user guide printed inside):
And... the whole thing can be detached from the rack plate and carried around like a suitcase (it has a handle). It's kind of a funny shape, though - if it was heavy, it'd probably be a little awkward to carry and leave the odd bruise on your leg (foot put there to give a sense of scale):
All in all, I'm pleased so far. Not a heck of a lot to really form an opinion on yet, though. It does look a wee bit silly, but that doesn't really bother me as long as I've got space to stow stuff!
Safe riding!
